Permit drawing sets: common questions

How much does a permit set for an ADU or addition cost?

Each job is quoted as a fixed price for its scope, so you know the total before any work starts. The price depends on the number of sheets and how much has to be drawn from scratch. Send what you have for a quote, usually within a couple of hours.

How long does a permit set take?

A typical residential set takes 3 to 5 business days once the scope is confirmed. Larger projects get a delivery date in the quote.

Does my project need an engineer?

Often not: interior remodels with no structural change, residential work inside the IRC prescriptive tables, decks and as-builts usually do not. Your building department decides. If yours does, the structural sheets are drafted from your engineer’s design and coordinated with them.

What happens if the city sends corrections?

Corrections to drawings we prepared are handled as revision rounds, and two are included in the quote.

Can you work without a site visit?

Yes. Most sets are drawn from existing plans, photos with dimensions, a survey, or a scan of the space taken with a phone.
